If people who don’t have insurance are relying on free or low-cost medical clinics, it would make sense that those clinics give comprehensive and pragmatic healthcare that deter those patients from actions that would make them more ill and it cost more money in medical care.
But that is not what is happening with this title x funding. religious-based healthcare organizations that won’t provide referrals to abortions and won’t hand out condoms are won’t even talk about condoms are receiving your tax dollars.
I’m always deeply amused any religious organization says that abstinence is 100% effective against pregnancy when an abstinent teenager got pregnant and that’s what founded the religion. Like, what do you really believe?
This is from The Huffington Post
“From 2013 to 2017, the number of gonorrhea cases across the country increased 67%; syphilis rose by 76%. The number of cases of gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia reached 2.3 million in 2017. About 30,000 people are newly infected with HIV each year.
Left untreated, sexually transmitted diseases can lead to infertility, cervical cancer, blindness and dementia.”
Diseases do not understand income, tax bracket, color, or nation. Microscopic viruses and germs are equal opportunity attackers.
You cannot pray that gonorrhea away. – this may be my new catchphrase.
And the thing is, that if these free and low cost clinics are putting at risk and in need of more Medical Services, you are going to pay for those treatments.
