Invisible People on “typical homeless person”

One of the items that @lampcommunity (now The People Concern) had that drew them to me was Supportive Employment, and I would like to see more of it.

Remember in college we had the option if scheaduking classes for 2, 3 or 5 days a week for a few hours at a time?

Bring that into the work place. Offer modified and shorter scheadule for people who have mental health issues and fir whom 9 hours of work would be impossible.

Offer jobs from 9am to 1pm for moms who live in shelters and don’t have before or after school childcare.

Offer jobs that pay minimum wage for a few hours so people can keep their Social Security benefits and also have the benefit of dignity, of having a purpose, a reason for sobriety and hygeine.

Lamp used to have a laundry that did the sheets and towels for local SRO’s and hotels. There have to be other business models that can survive this. Jobs with many or no skills required.

  1. courtesy clerks
  2. window washers
  3. store greeters
  4. crossing guards
  5. ….what can you think of?
