Smart Phones and Library Books
I have long been a fan of smart phones and cell phones for low income people. It is a great way to stay in contact with family and friends, make and keep appointments as well as access the internet.
One of my favorite features on my smart phone ( I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with Verizon service) is the Overdrive Application.
I use it to listen to audio books – although I can access digital format books and streaming movies.
God Bless the public library’s entrance into the digital age. Freegal Music is pretty awesome too.
Here is a walk through
- Go to you iTunes or Google Play store and download Overdrive
you can add as many libraries as you have library cards for

You can narrow down your search

I always look for audio books – hte ones which are available have dark earphones. The grayed out icons mean the book is checked out by someone else. It is possible to place the item on hold.
Once you find the one you want, click on it and you will be asked to put in your library card number

Once it is downloaded and installed, click “Play” and enjoy
