Politically Polarized Perspectives p!sses me off

I have a lot of Angry Republican friends. I’m an #Angry Republican: I’m angry at my own party for some of the stupid ideas they are floating as facts. Please don’t be so invested in "my team rules and your party drools" that you overlook common sense and, you know, facts.

This is what the internet puked out today. My comments are next to the 5 stupid statements.

1.You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. *
— Do you know a single 1%er who says this? It is usually middle class folk with delusions of grandeur. No one is legislating rich people into poverty. Find me a law or bill that is keeping rich folks from being rich. These are not kids being bullied on the school yarda, these are people creating companies and then insisting the companies receive the same rights as people to hold cash and goods.

2.What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.*
Wait. So when my dad bought me a car, someone else didn’t get the car they saved up for?
Welfare and Disability and Unemployment and Medicaid are part of the tax codes. It is a small price t of income taxes and doesn’t take anything from anyone. It is designed to be provided to those who need it and does not diminish the income of wage earners. Are you angry about the Defense budget for contracted soldiers, because that takes much more of your taxes.

3.The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.*
Crap. Do we believe that the government is not also a creator as well as redistributor? The government creates soldiers and prints money and gives alarming subsidies for farmers to keep them from making food that would be eaten by others.

4.You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!.*
It works with fire, why not money and power and ideas? Spending money to teach the poor to work is a perfect governmental use of money.

5.When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.*

I don’t know anyone who seriously thinks the government is Prince Charming and going to sweep them away to a castle of riches. Your statement is a negative and overly broad claim that poor people don’t work at all and don’t work just to be eligible for government subsidies.
