With @abales on Skid Row

Networking and tweeting and calmly offering services and his business card to passers by outside the @urm.

After 4 years of following him on Twitter and Facebook I have finally met him. It is possible that he seems dignifies and wise because he truly is. This impression is amplified by the volume of our companions *em, Sugar Bear.

There are dozens of good causes and nonprofits in the skid row area but you might not have heard of them. You may not have seen them effect change. However I am betting you have heard of the Union Rescue Mission because it is effective. There are all manner of people coming up and talking to him and a line of women sleeping against the mission wall. He projects an aura of peace and security.

And then he quietly tells a funny story and lights up.

All of skid row is politics and he has navigated the professional politicians and the street politics.

I have to say that I am pleased to have met him.
