Thank you for supporting Oscar Night(R) America Los Angeles at Universal Studios Hollywood Globe Theatre

The winners have been announced, the golden statues have been awarded, and the red carpet has been rolled up! The clear winner at this year’s Oscar Night(R) America Los Angeles is MEND – Meet Each Need with Dignity.

Held at the stunning Universal Studios Hollywood’s Globe Theatre, the Gala included more than 350 guests, hailing from Argentina, Australia, the East Coast, and all over California.  Danny Romero of ABC7 Eyewitness News deftly served as the Master of Ceremonies and as Auctioneer with great charm and high energy.

The proceeds from this glamorous second annual Oscar Night(R) America Los Angeles gala will benefit the comprehensive poverty-relief services MEND provides to our community.  Thanks to our generous sponsors, guests, silent and live auction proceeds, we raised almost $150,000 for the thousands of children and families served by MEND.

We look forward to celebrating with you again next year!

Oscar Night® America Los Angeles

84th Annual Academy Awards®
The evening festivities began with red carpet arrivals as the cameras flashed to capture the glamorous attendees.  Events planned for the evening, included fabulous food by Wolfgang Puck Catering, wines by Francis Ford Coppola Winery, “Predict the Winners” balloting, spotting of celebrities and special guests, and a silent and live auction filled with tempting items.
MEND honored the following two groups
for their on-going support:

Universal Studios Hollywood Discover A Star Foundation

Universal Studios Hollywood’s philanthropic division, the Discover A Star Foundation, is committed to helping the local community by providing grants to organizationswhose initiatives target children’s health, well-being and homeless intervention.
The Universal employees who participate in Discover A Star Foundation activities organize an amazing Christmas in Spring event each year at the MEND Center that benefits 1,000 low income clients from MEND and other agencies. Discover A Star Foundation also funded a refrigerated truck for MEND’s Emergency Food Department; they’ve been actively involved in MEND’s holiday basket program; and have donated clothing and other in-kind goods to MEND. For this gala, not only did Discover A Star provide a financial sponsorship, but they also worked with our Oscar(R) Planning Committee on the pricing of food and amenities to ensure that the maximum percentage of this evening’s festivities will go to support the vital services MEND provides to our struggling neighbors in need.
UNIDOS, A Warner Bros. Business Resource Group

UNIDOS is a Warner Bros. Latino/ Hispanic Business Resource Group for Employees that provides networking opportunities for our members to share information on their respective businesses and opportunities within other divisions. It also provides opportunities to share in our Latino Culture through art and music, special events and informing members on important Latino cultural and historical events.

Our friends in UNIDOS have come as a group many times to volunteer, adopt extra needy families, and otherwise support MEND’s Holiday Basket Program, as well as our Emergency Food Department. They have arranged for donations of clothing and other items to benefit MEND clients and activities, and have also supported MEND with generous grants over the years.
