Must be able to attend one of these paid training cohort (all day training):

 

  • Saturday, December 4 and Saturday December 11, 2010  OR
  • Saturday, December 11 and Saturday December 18, 2010 OR
  • Saturday, December 18, 2010 and Sunday December 19, 2010

 

 

Company Overview: 

  • The Youth Policy Institute-SES program provides tutoring services to K-12 students in Math or Language arts throughout Los Angeles and the Greater San Fernando area. 
  • Tutoring occurs in a 1 on 1 and small group setting at a students’ home, local library or one of our many learning centers
  • We are currently looking for tutors to work 1 on 1 or small group (2:1) and center tutors with teaching credential to work with small group of students (5:1)

We are looking for people in all areas throughout

 

Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley

 

These areas have the biggest program need:

 

  • San Fernando Valley~ Canoga Park, Winnetka (West Valley), Sun Valley.
  • District 3 & 4:   Downtown/Central Area~ Downtown LA, Westlake, Pico Union, Echo Park, Korea Town, Mid-Wilshire, Highland Park, Mid City & West L.A.
  • District 5:   East LA ~ Boyle Heights, City Terrace,  Huntington Park, El Sereno, Maywood, Walnut Park,
  • District 6, 7 & 8:  South LA~ Bell, Huntington Park, , Athens, Florence, Long Beach, South Gate, San Pedro, Wilmington

 

In-home/Library tutors:        $12.00 – $20.00 an hour depending on experience

 

Minimum requirements: 

 

  • At least 2 years of academic tutoring experience
  • Must be able to tutor one on one and/or small groups (2:1)
  • Enrolled in college or Bachelor’s Degree

 

Center Tutor:      $20.00 – 30.00 an hour depending on experience

 

Minimum requirements: 

 

  • Must have California Teaching Credentials
  • Tutor students in small groups (5:1)
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Will consider individuals that are currently obtaining teaching credential, clearing credential, out of state teaching credential with teaching experience
  • Ability to help English language learners become bi-literate and bilingual Candidates with CLAD/BCLAD highly encouraged

 

All Candidate Must: 

  • Be available to work a minimum of 12-15 hours and up to 32 hours  per week during the times below:

–Monday-Friday:        4-6pm and/or 6-8pm

–Saturdays/Sunday:     Two hour sessions from 8 am to 8 pm

  • Comfortable tutoring & teaching underserved communities
  • Pass a criminal background check and provide verification of TB test
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to center or local library or student’s home
  • Very flexible Schedule and highly dependable
  • Proven ability and commitment in assisting children in Math and/or Reading and Writing
  • Have access to a computer and check email frequently
  • Excellent organizational, computer savvy and ability to do paperwork and meet strict biweekly deadlines
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a huge plus
