and still lives in public housing. She was an Illegal Immigrant and receives $700 a month of disability now that she has been granted asylum.
Can someone explain why we are giving public tax dollars to someone who has never worked or paid onto the federal tax base?
“If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen,” Zeituni Onyango . Can someone ask her if that means we have an obligation to house her before we house our homeless veterans or displaced citizens? Does this mean that we have to make citizens of anyone who comes to our country and then give them public housing and assistance funds ? I ask this because we cant seem to help the people we already have living here legally.
“I didn’t take advantage of the system. The system took advantage of me.”
“I didn’t ask for it; they gave it to me. Ask your system. I didn’t create it or vote for it. Go and ask your system,” she said unapologetically.
I have a client list of people who only wish the system would “take advantage” of them this same way. Instead, they are mothers and children living in their cars, in boxes, on kitchen floors and basically homeless with no disability check to permanently line their pockets. They are hustling to get an actual income before Welfare runs out.
I know, I am uptight – but I do resent having to give my stamp of approval to anything that starts with “Illegal” in the name, and dealing with people who have entitlement issues but who have never given in to the system…well, it is like hanging out with my uncles.
