There are 1.02 billion undernourished people in the world today. That means one in nearly six people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to the health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Hunger will effect the wealth of a nation. malnourished and stunted children will lose 5% – 10% of a lifetime of earning potential.
Who knew? Women are the secret weapon to fighting hunger. when a woman holds a families funding their children are 20% more likely to survive childhood. 60% of food production world-wide is done by women. But 60% of the starving population on Earth are currently women and children.

A teen movement through World Vision to make teens aware of World Hunger. My daughter does this every year. She and her friends get together as a Youth Group and raise funds to donate to World Vision and then spend 30 hours together NOT EATING. That’s right . . . teenagers who get together and DON’T Eat. (I, of course, send them text pictures of food . . . )
