Housing Vouchers make “Market Value” housing into affordable Low income housing. The best article I have found on it is here: http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=2786
Personally, I would like all new housing developments to have a manditory 10% ratio of Low income housing/units per site. Mix the low income in with the middle class – because the low income will rise and morph to be more like their neighbors. Adopt the same values and skill sets and share interrests. Being Poor doesn’t mean you deserve to live in a slum or ghetto, and low income children already have challenges ahead of them. Give them the opportunity to attend a middle or upper class public school.
