What can the Restaurant Meals do for me? |
| The Restaurant Meals Program allows homeless, elderly (age 60 or over), and disabled CalFresh individuals to use CalFresh benefits to purchase prepared meals using Golden State Advantage (EBT) card at participating restaurants. | |

How can I find out if I am eligible for the Restaurant Meals Program? |
| If you are homeless, elderly (age 60 or over), receive Social Security Disability, Railroad Retirement Benefit Annuities, or Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), you may be eligible to purchase meals at participating restaurants. | |

Do I have to apply for the Restaurant Meals Program? |
| No, an application is not required, if you are eligible to participate in the Restaurant Meals Program. That is, you meet one of the conditions in question #2. | |

How do I find out if a restaurant is participating in the program? |
| A restaurant is participating in the program if the Restaurant Meals Program sign or logo is displayed on its door or window. You may also click here for the list of participating restaurants or ask your Eligibility Worker for a list. | |

Do I have to show an identification card aside from my Golden State Advantage (EBT) card to purchase a meal? |
| No, an identification card is no longer required. All you need is your EBT card to purchase a meal. | |

6.

After purchasing a meal, do I get a sales receipt showing my CalFresh benefit balance? |
| Yes, your sales receipt will show the cost of your meal and your CalFresh benefit balance. | |

7.

Will I be charged a service gratuity or sales tax if I purchase a meal? |
| No, the participating restaurant is not allowed to charge a service gratuity or sales tax under the Restaurant Meals Program. | |

If my EBT CalFresh benefit is not enough to purchase a meal, can I use the EBT cash benefit to cover the difference for payment? |
| Yes, you must inform the cashier that you will use a mixed transaction (EBT CalFresh and EBT cash combined). Before you buy a meal, check your last receipt or you may call the toll-free EBT Customer Service number (1-877-328-9677 or the TTY at 1-800-735-2929) to find out the balance in your EBT CalFresh account. | |

Nice try but not really on the food stamps at restaurants.
I have tried and tried to get DPSS to straighten out their list. At least in September they added the phone numbers I kept requesting.
I can tell you the Subway restaurants listed in Torrance do NOT accept EBT. The owner on the Crenshaw Blvd. location said he has told DPSS for TWO YEARS to take him off the list.
As much as I appreciate JackintheBox, El Pollo Loco, etc. being involved I’d really like something other then fried foods. Happily Subweay was that outlet but not in Torrance.
I also asked DPSS to highlight or somehow deleniate the NEW locations. Maybe with the next list.
I can also say I’ve talked to a number of restaurants that have no idea about EBT and would be happy to accept them. As far as they are concerned it is money pure and simple.

I am a homless woman, I have a brain tumor, I am in and out of hospitals.
I am fighting to get Disability. It is very hard for me, My memory is very bad, I can barley remember to take my meds. or make my dr. apt’s.
Getting warm food from a resteraunt sometimes makes me feel like a normal person. thank you for this program. I just wish that there was a way for me to also receive cashaid, so i could feel clean as well…

Just apply for it! Any homeless (like me) can receive cash and food stamps.

School: Learning Center; Classmates home…. there are many resources…not everyone has to have a computer at home to go online…now a days even Cell phones have internet….and some relatives are willing to pay for their homeless relatives prepaid cell phone bills just to keep in touch and make sure they are not dead…
I have been hoeless before and also havea edicl conditon which prevents me from working. I agree the restaurant proram is very helpful. I wish you the best and will pray for you and all homeless. God Bless.
Does the color coding of the restuarants have ANY rhyme or reason to it??–if done by zip code or city name it would be good, but if its just some artsy stuff, its not helpful at all

Wonderful for Los Angeles County, Sanoma County and a few others, but Ventura County doth not like the idea evidently, their office doth not even know of the program. Wonder why?
Thank you ebt for your vast support. My mother participates and is owner of an ebt card and Let me tell you, it helps us with groceries and now it allows us to buy hot meals. Once again thank you and god bless

As a single parent and Viet Nam combat vet on unemployment, applying for and receiving an EBT food stamp card is major stress relief. Haven’t tried the restarunts around LB yet, but Subway sounds like the place for healthier meals. And . . . anybody out there wanna hire me? I can do lots of physical work type jobs and play guitar with 55 years of experience in variety bands !
